White-box vendors are dumping 7-inch digital photo frames that failed to meet EMI testing standards in the Taiwan market at retail prices below NT$2,000 (US$66), 20-40% lower than prices for normal 7-inch models, according to industry sources.

In sample tests conducted by the relevant government authority in late June 2008, some digital photo frame models produced by a few Taiwan-based makers including A-Data Technology, AboCom Systems, Action Electronics and Chi Lin Technology, failed to comply with national EMI standards, the sources pointed out.

These EMI-defective products have since flown to white-box vendors at very low prices, resulting in the dumping, the sources indicated.
